Felt good to be back in the studio on Saturday after a birthday weekend off (I’m 33 now apparently) It also meant that I had loads of new tracks and overlooked personal favourites to share with you this week.

I started things off with a great track from HNNY’s 2013 EP Tears which samples MFSB from 1975 and rolled into new ones from Axel Boman, Marcin Krupa, A Man Called Adam, Dan Kye & The Blessed Madonna. Justin Martin has also released a great remix of a DRAMA track which features this week.

Listen out for a beautiful tribute to Italian nightclub Melodj Mecca out on Soul Clap records. Described as ‘Stump Valley’s atmospheric ode to an early 80s Italo cosmic jewel’. I ended the show with a few Afrobeat and World sounds from Di Melo, Baila Chibiquiban, Boncana Maïga, Chico Mann, Mim Suleiman and the incredible new remix of Jungle Fire’s Firewalker by JKRIV (out on Razor-N-Tape)

Just a quick reminder that my show is moving time slots from next week.. Join me from 12pm-2pm every Saturday on @Decadanceuk for more of the same. Thanks for listening.

As the sun was out this weekend, I thought I’d ease in to the show with a few chilled tracks from Folamour, JKriv, Shakarchi & Straneus & Orion Sun. Picked up the tempo after this for a summer banger from Markosa, a track from ABSOLUTE. (Sampling the Lio Classic, Sage Comme Une Image) and one of my current favourites, a piano led anthem from House & Garage legend Todd Edwards.

The second half of the show turned out to be a mix of a few older tracks that always end up in my sets, which leads me on to another bout of shameless self promotion.. My first gig back in the REAL WORLD is on Friday 30th.. I can’t wait to jump back on the decks at the wonderful Shelter Hall on Brighton seafront and it’d be great to see you there. I’ll be playing 5pm-7pm.

Pubs are back, and I have a slightly sore head.. But that didn’t stop me jumping on the Decadance decks on Saturday. I went pretty House & Disco heavy this week with current favourites from Never Dull, Lazare Hoche, PPJ, Another Chemical Love Story & Keita Sano.

Listen out for pure 80s classic from Leon Haywood an amazing Idris Muhammad revision from The Reflex, and a joyous track from Phil Weeks out on Robsoul Recs.

Also loved dropping Italian Piano House track ‘Calypso of House’. Originally released in 1990 and recenlty reissued on Safe Trip in 2017 it still sounds unbelievably fresh today, especially when enjoyed in the sun.

Thanks for listening and see you same time next week.

Walking to the studio this week, the sun was shining and after a few false starts, it feels like spring is on the way. I’d already sorted my tracklist for the show and It felt good to begin with a bit of Afro-Funk from Supergombo, Mbamina & Gyedu Blay Ambolley.

As always I’m giving air time to new releases that have caught my attention. Currently enjoying the latest EP from Koji Ono, Richochet / Maloja Pass out on Chuwanaga (hard to pronounce live on air), the new Gilligan Moss record Special Thing [Foreign Family Collective] & Sound Support & Loernz Rhode [Internasjonal]

Listen out for a classic track from Kolsch, new tunes from Moodymann, Octo Octa and an incredible remix of Cola Boyy from Domenique Dumont.

I ended the show with a bit of Captain Sensible WOT for my good friends Conor & Dayenne over in Dublin, an overlooked banger from M.IA and a real nice Reflex revision of the Beastie Boys & Jimmy Smith. Oh and my headphones died a death live on air..

Stay safe and see you next week.

This week I started off with the latest releases from Lay-Far, Demuja, CN Williams, Thomas Blondet, Til Von Sein & Tender Games. Well worth checking all of these out on Bandcamp if you like what you’re hearing.

I also stumbled upon a Japanese artist called Soichi Terada a few days ago, specifically a track called ‘Purple Haze – Edit’ The production had a somewhat familiar sound to me and thats because he co owns a record label called ‘Sounds of the Far East’ with Shinichiro Yokota. Turns out he’s been making music since 1990 and composed the music to one of my favourite Playstation games APE ESCAPE.. Anyone remember that? What a game.

Elsewhere I’ve got the usual eceletic mix of tunes to share with you, including a v nice recent remix from local DJ & Producer Tech Support. This is followed by genius track from Video Age, brooding electronica from Aphex Twin & stone cold classics from Prince & ESG.

If you are a producer and would like your music featured on the show, please send me stuff ok. sadactmusic@gmail.com

After last weeks Daft Punk tribute, we’re back to (some kind) of normality. There were actually a few tracks I didn’t get to play on the show last week, mostly from a compilation series entitled French Touch which showcases the best of French Electronic music. (Super Funk, Demon, Martin Solveig, Guts) You can check that out on Wagram Music.

Had so many tracks to fit in this week, I definitely over packed the proverbial record bag. Really missing my monthly residency at the Hope & Ruin, ‘Disco Unusual’ as it’s been exactly a year since I last played there. This night was all about New-Wave, Post-Punk & Power-Pop so I couldn’t resist playing a few tunes by the likes of The Human League, Talking Heads and a beautiful track from The Cleaners From Venus.

Also listen out for a classic early House track by Julian Jonah, full on Disco from Dan Hartman and the new ones from Fred Again & Gilligan Moss.

Thanks to everyone listening and if you like what you’re hearing, please go and check out my other shows on Mixcloud. I also have a Spotify playlist updated weekly with tracks played on the show here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3LVlLbCow9kVd1olO4dXXf

  • sad act social | Daft Punk Tribute

This week we found out that Daft Punk are calling it quits after 28 incredible years. I felt compelled to pay tribute on the show and hopefully you enjoy my homage to one of the best acts of all time.

Daft Punk’s music has been a constant in my life and I’ve grown up in awe of their artistic output. Guy and Thomas have had a far reaching influence and have undoubtedly achieved greatness by combining sounds from the past and present to create something truly unique.

From the magical opening bars of Digital Love to the irresistible groove of ‘Da Funk’, selecting their strongest tracks and condensing this into two hours was really tough..

So keep an ear out for my personal favourite Daft Punk tracks as well as tunes they’ve sampled and artists that they’ve inspired throughout the years. Really enjoyed this one.

Back to the usual mix of all sorts next week. Stay safe and see you then.

I Love doing this show because it allows me to discover music every week. It would be lazy of me to rely on my existing collection of tracks, It’d also make for a pretty boring listen in my opinion. Let’s keep things fresh!

This week I start off with a couple of old favourites I’ve not heard in a while (Kenix, Mount Liberation Unlimited) and move into a few new discoveries I’m enjoying. (that Z.A.M & Victor Simonelli track is absolute genius) Then we go a bit Housey & Electronic as usual.

My record recommendation this week is ‘Volume 4’ from XX EDITS on Nolita Recs. This description is lifted from Traxsource and I couldn’t put it better myself..

“Hard to find, thoroughly Luxurious reworks of classic tracks finally available for fine fellows and females. Includes dance-floor heaters as well as a few mellow mood-setters, perfect for sunrises, sunsets, or sunless Sunday’s with your son. Pandemic-friendly”

We finish off proceedings with a bit of a Post disco Mini mix as I was feeling fruity.

Thanks to everyone listening and if you like what you’re hearing, please go and check out my other shows on Mixcloud

I also have a Spotify playlist updated weekly with tracks played on the show.

Stay safe and see you same time next week
