Life of an Intern- First few days in an IT industry

Woooahh!! was my expression when I was selected at the campus recruitment drive by ‘Lets Nurture’ an offshore software development company in Ahmedabad, India working for clients with global and international reach. Yes, I was amongst those few lucky ones who got the chance to explore a whole new world on a totally new platform, in one of the finest and fastest growing IT companies where they have various department like mobile application department, iphone application department, Website development, I was selected in iOS Department. The polite interaction with the company’s HR and recruiters made me feel even more excited to join the company and I literally couldn’t wait to join the company and started counting days.

And finally, the day arrived when I had to leave my parents, friends, and city. It was really an emotional and nostalgic feeling when you have to shift to a new city, amongst new people while facing new challenges.

New Journey Starts..!! First Day…

I arrived Ahmedabad at night, freshened up, had dinner and slept as soon as I hit the bed. Next morning I woke up early as I had to report the office and I didn’t wanted to arrive late. I arrived the company early, and yes I was really nervous and worried at the moment but that didn’t last long as soon as I took my first step into the company, I was astonished on seeing the company’s ambience and only one word came out from my mouth ‘Woow’, a perfect eye candy.

I waited in the waiting room with eyes wide open staring at the employees how relaxed they were enjoying their work. There were other people too who were interns just like me stepping into the office for the first time. It didn’t took me long to make them my friends, and yes I could feel the anxiousness and curiosity in their eyes. Then the HR called us and gave a small introduction and her kind gesture made us all free and relaxed. She then introduced us to all the employees and our team leaders.

An Inferno Moment while meeting the Bossman..!!

Now, it was time to meet the most important person in the office our CEO, ‘Ketan Sir’. Yes, you can feel your pulse at the moment when you are going to meet your boss. Frankly, I was very nervous and scared too and multiple thoughts ruining my mood and weaving my thoughts like a woolen sphere. He called us, asked us to have a sit. We greeted him and sat down with legs shivering and hand as cold as snow. He introduced himself, took our introduction and started explaining us about the office, its mission, vision and the goals. As he progressed, he made us more comfortable and relaxed motivating us at the same time. Yes! I was loving it and believe me all my anxiousness and nervousness vanished. I had no idea this good and frank he could be. He didn’t take much of our time and we forwarded to our respective designations one by one happy and relaxed.

A Session in iOS App Development with Team Leader’s guidance

The Team Leader of iOS Department then proceeded from there and after having a small introduction started sharing his knowledge and teaching us about various projects related to iphone app development and iOS web development. Then we moved to our respective PC’s to practice what we had gained. Our teaching was not only confined to our job roles rather we were taught about everything that an employee needs to know on or off the field, the initiative which none company offers.  After few minutes it was our lunch time and it was 1.15 from 11 in just 15 minutes. Time was flying and I felt so because I was enjoying my work. We went to the cafeteria to have our lunch which everyone brought in their lunch boxes and everyone shared and started talking about their hometown and about themselves. It was 2 pm and we went back to the office.

Daily Yoga Sessions/ Recreational Break

After few minutes of practice again, It was 5pm. Believe me, time was flying like a straw in a wild wind. I had no idea what was coming next and it was our yoga session. I was just like what? how? I have never heard of a company which organized yoga sessions regularly every day and it was a point of attraction for me. I really missed my old school PT classes and it was dream come true for me. I always dreamt to work in a company which emphasized on both the fields like learning and fitness and my dreams fused with my real life. Everyone as a team exercised and enjoyed. In no time, it was time for us to leave. We bid goodbye to everyone and started leaving the office with even more motivation to start the work next day.

Second Day at Work.. and it paid off

The next day we arrived the company at the scheduled time. Today was different again. There was a medical checkup for all the employees and staffs for free conducted by the office, and I was handed the responsibility of that. I was just like ‘Oh Yeah’ again a responsibility and its time to prove again. We took the blood pressure, BMI check-up, weight measurement and glucose test of all the employees and staffs from the app designed by our own senior present at the office. Yes, I completed this task successfully and got a chance to interact with all the people working at the office.

The same day our CEO assigned all the new interns a small task of making innovative vacancy boards and creative designs for the new upcoming people looking for a job. He did this to improve our team collaboration and for our skill improvement. This much attention to the new employees and I was in the 7th sky because I knew I kept my toes in the best place I could. We started to work on the projects on that day itself as there are very few chances to impress your CEO. We gave our best and completed the task in the least number of days as we could. Our CEO, HR and all the employees were very happy with our work and everyone appreciated our hard work. We all were very happy at that time.

Summing Up… What I felt so far and visualize in the future?

Yes, I was very happy because I knew I am going to gain many things from the company with a vision to build a strong career too with Let’s Nurture. The team support made me feel very comfortable working at the office. The new tasks, the efforts by the management everything summoned me up.
